Report: 45th Anniversary Hello Kitty Collection Exhibition

I went to the 45th Anniversary Hello Kitty Collection exhibition, which started on January 1, 2020. It is one of the largest Hello Kitty exhibitions in Yokohama, so I can’t stop excited and excited! This time, my daughter was with me, so I gave up events such as handover ceremony and photo sessions. And I planned to go there during off-peak hours on weekdays. I’d like to report with photos of what it looked like.

45th anniversary handover ceremony from Hello Kitty to My Melody

  • Date: January 4, 11:00 am
  • Location: Special space in the venue
  • Free viewing

2019 was the 45th anniversary of Hello Kitty. Then, in 2020, they held a handover ceremony for My Melody’s 45th anniversary.

This is a real baton pass! lol
Kitty seems to be faster than My Melody.

The handover ceremony has been completed successfully, and in 2020 I think My Melody will be active in various places. I’m looking forward to it.

Hello Kitty and My Melody Photo Session

  • Date: January 4 at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm
  • Location: Special space in the venue
  • Free shooting (about 30 minutes and 40 groups each time)

The photo session was limited to one photo per group. It progressed quite quickly.

Both Kitty and My Melody are wearing wonderful costumes. They are so cute!

The 3rd Hello Kitty Designer Yuko Yamaguchi’s autograph session was held.

Hello Kitty Collection Exhibition, here we come!

At the entrance, Kitty greeted us! My daughter was very excited to say “Kitty !!” Since she walked on her own, I followed her in a hurry. lol There was no stroller storage area and I was able to enter with my stroller. Photography was also basically allowed. In some places, it was written “Please shoot only still images.”

There were many exhibits there. There were lots of things I wanted to read slowly, such as Kitty’s first goods and articles that appeared in the old “Strawberry Newspaper”! But I couldn’t see them slowly because my daughter went to the photography corner right away.

A pink quilt series, one of the goods that left my impression, was also on display. It was so classy that I dreamed of having it when I grew up.The most surprising thing is that the Game Boy has collaborated with Kitty! I wanted to have it when the Game Boy was mainstream.

Kitty’s boyfriend, Daniel, was also displayed! He is really good-looking guy. I like him.

YOSHIKITTY was also displayed. This is a very popular collaboration that has won the 8th place in the Sanrio Character Awards 2019. He makes “X” pose and it looks cool.

Somehow, there was an aura only here. I couldn’t get closer, it was really cool …

Photo spot

It is a fluffy stuffed wall. Kitty is stuck to the whole wall and it is cute. My daughter was the most excited here. And she was finding her favorite Alice in Wonderland costume Kitty.

By the way, here is Kitty’s friend “Tiny Chum”. Please look for it.

The red grand piano was bought by Kitty’s dad. Kitty wanted to be a pianist, so he gave it to her. As a side note, her mom is a pianist. It is a scene where she is practicing to be a wonderful pianist like mom. It’s a wonderful family love!

It is cute that Mimmy’s feet are floating.

Projection mapping to play with Kitty

There was a projection mapping near the exit where you can play with Kitty. I was able to touch Kitty falling from the top of the screen. My daughter was puzzled by the projection mapping she saw for the first time. So she was touching it cautiously.

There were several types of projection mapping, and there was also a commemorative photo time.

Stop by the souvenir corner

Image Sorce: SOGO Yokohama

Mascot holder: 1760 yen (400 limited)

Many kinds of goods were on sale, but there was nothing that my daughter wanted to buy so we went to the exit. I wanted to see more. lol

Conclusion

This time, I participated in the exhibition for the first time, it was very good to have fun with my daughter. I really want to take time to see exhibits and goods! Although the admission fee was 500 yen, it was a special exhibition that made me worried, “Is there really no problem with that price?” I’m happy to know what Kitty was like in my birth year. I would like to participate in other exhibition if I have the opportunity.
