Make the best memories of your first Puroland with your children

It can be hard to take your children to a place they’ve never been before. If it’s a place you’re used to, that’s fine, but if it’s your first time, you’ll need to do some research beforehand. The first time I went to Puroland with my daughter was on her first birthday. At that time, I also looked into various things like diaper changing spaces and places to make milk.

Therefore, in this article, I have summarized important information such as diaper changing spaces, recommendations, and useful information for people who are going to Puroland with their children for the first time.

  • I want to go to Puroland for the first time, but is there a diaper changing area?
  • What shows and restaurants do you recommend to take my children to?

This article is designed to answer these questions.

Baby center and diaper changing space for babies

If you have a baby or a child still in diapers, the first thing you’ll be concerned about is the nursing room and diaper changing area. Since it is your first time going there, it is important to know in advance so that you do not panic. Let’s take a closer look.

Baby Center

There is a Baby Center on the 1st floor next to the information center at Puroland. Here’s what the Baby Center has to offer

  • 4 nursing rooms
  • A slightly larger diaper changing area
  • Hot water for infant formula
  • One child’s toilet

There are also small chairs and large sofas for resting so that you can feed your baby in peace. Also, if you get sick, you can rest assured that the information center is right next door and there is always a staff member there.

One minor concern is that the nursing room is easily curtained shut. It can easily be opened from the outside. If you’re worried about it, wear a nursing cape or something like that.

The information center sells baby formula, baby food, and diapers, but at a higher price. Since you can freely enter and exit Puroland, you can leave once and buy what you need at the nearest drugstore.

For more information about the Baby Center, please visit the Puroland’s official website “Baby Center”.

The baby center is open to men, so you can ask your husband to change your child’s diaper.

Toilets for changing diapers

There are diaper changing areas in the women’s, men’s and multi-purpose restrooms on each floor. There are the most toilets on the first floor, and as you go upstairs, there are fewer toilets. If you want to change diapers smoothly, I recommend using the Baby Center, which is easy to find and has a large space for changing diapers.

Top 5 things I recommend for people with children

Now that you’ve figured out the baby center and diaper changing areas, we’ve put together a list of things you’ll want to do to ensure you’re enjoying 100% of Puroland with your children. This section is a must-see for those who are wondering what to do.

1.Get a “Birthday Card” or “Anniversary Card”!

One of the highlights of Puroland is the “Birthday Card” and “Anniversary Card”. You will receive a Birthday Card in your birthday month and an Anniversary Card at any time. If you wear this card around your neck, the staff in Puroland will put a character sticker on it for you.

If you show the card when you interact with the characters at character greetings or at the Restaurant Yakata, the characters will congratulate you and put a sticker on your card with a staff.

It’s nice to have a character celebrate a birthday or anniversary with you. It’s sure to be a great memory!

The place to get this card is the 3rd floor “Information Center” on the left after entering Puroland. You can also leave your stroller at the information desk. So, if you get your card right after checking the stroller, it will help you move smoothly.

Tell the staff at the Information Center that you would like a Birthday Card or Anniversary Card. You will be asked questions such as “When’s your birthday?” or “What kind of anniversary is it?”. When you receive a Birthday Card, you may be asked to show the staff something to confirm your birthday.

And it’s not just the children who can get these cards. Adults can get them too! Let’s get a card for the whole family!

After you get each card, you will write your name and your birthday or anniversary on it using the pens provided by Puroland.

When you’re done filling them out, hang each card around your neck or in a bag or other prominent place.

Anything you write on your anniversary card is fine! “I’m in Puroland for the first time!” “I’m here to see Kitty!” Please write about what you like.

2.Get a pre-opening numbered tickets for the Restaurant Yakata

There are two food courts and one restaurant in Puroland, but everywhere is crowded at lunch time. If your hungry child starts crying while you’re trying to find a seat, you’ll be in trouble.

In order to prevent this from happening, I would like to recommend that you take a pre-opening numbered tickets at the Restaurant Yakata.

The Restaurant Yakata is a buffet-style restaurant where you can meet the characters. The characters will come to your table wearing the restaurant’s original costumes.

It’s a pretty popular restaurant where you can have a good meal and meet the characters. Without pre-opening numbered tickets, you can expect to wait more than 60 minutes. So, if you want to eat there, it’s important to get a pre-opening tickets.

【Time to receive the pre-opening tickets】

  • Weekdays: From 30 minutes before the restaurant opens
  • Holidays: From 1 hour before the restaurant opens.

Once you’ve received your numbered ticket, all you have to do is go to the Restaurant Yakata when you want to. You’ll be called in alternately with the groups waiting in line, so you’ll be in there relatively quickly.

3.Let’s make use of PUROPASS

There are three types of PUROPASS: the Puroland Admission Priority Pass, which allows you to enter Puroland before the general public; the Attraction PUROPASS, which allows you to enter the attractions first; and the Parade PUROPASS, which allows you to sit in the front row when watching the parade. All three types of PUROPASS are charged separately from the admission fee.

This time I recommend the Attraction PUROPASS. Puroland has four experiential attractions and three theatre attractions. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the queues at attractions can be over 60 minutes long due to the crowds. It’s hard to stand in line for a long time with your children.

In particular, you will have to wait in line for a long time for the experience-type attraction, ~My Melody & Kuromi~ Mymeroad Drive. The Eco My Melody Car, invented by Kuromi, is an attraction that takes you around the Mariland where My Melody lives. There will be a total of 6 photo opportunities along the way. It doesn’t have the speed and ups and downs like a roller coaster, but rather a slow ride on a flat road, so even small children can ride it without worry.

It’s quite popular because it’s one of the few driving attractions in Puroland. Therefore, in order to avoid waiting in line for a long time, it is time to use the Attraction PUROPAS.

A family type Attraction PUROPASS for a maximum of 4 people costs 1000 yen. It may be an unexpected expense, but I think it’s better to pay 1,000 yen than to wait in line for a long time.

If you think, “I don’t want to spend that much money!”, it is recommended that you go right after the opening of Puroland when it is relatively free.

【Price list of PUROPASS】

  • “Puroland Admission Priority PASS”: 1000 yen per person
  • “Attraction PUROPASS”: 1 sheet (1 attraction): 500 yen / Family type (up to 4 people): 1000 yen
  • “Parade PUROPASS” 1 seat: 2000 yen (2 years old and under are free to watch on your knees)

For more information about the PUROPASS, please check the Puroland’s official website “PUROPASS”.

4.Have a wonderful birthday or anniversary at the ANNIVERSARY TIME!

ANNIVERSARY TIME is a party event where Kitty and Mimmy celebrate your birthday or anniversary. This is a separate charge from the entrance fee and must be reserved in advance.

The event will consist of Kitty autographs, photo shoots, and a Kitty & Mimmy show. They sing and dance and celebrate.

This is a great event for families thinking about going to Puroland for the first time on birthday! My daughter attended that event for her 2nd birthday and was very happy with it.

The reason I recommend ANNIVERSARY TIME is not only because you can meet Kitty and Mimmy, but also because there are a lot of special gift.

【ANNIVERSARY TIME SPECIAL GIFT】

  • Cookie box
  • Autographed paper (Kitty will sign the paper at the first half of the event)
  • Special stickers
  • Spot the difference and coloring book

This special sticker will be the same sticker that the staff at Puroland has. This is not for sale, so you can only get it here.

Spot the difference and coloring book can be played while waiting, such as before an event starts. Colored pencils are also available on the Puroland side.

For more information about making reservations for ANNIVERSARY TIME, please visit the Puroland’s official website “ANNIVERSARY TIME”.

5.Participate in the secret greeting

There are open greetings and secret greetings at Puroland.

The open greeting is a pre-timed greeting that is written on the official Puroland website.

The secret greeting is a greeting that is not written on the official Puroland website, and you are lucky to find it.

In order to attend an open greeting, you must line up in a designated area in advance. In the case of popular characters, some people wait in line for an hour or more in advance and the line may be closed by the time the greeting starts. Therefore, I think it’s better not to go to an open greeting if you’re with your child.

That’s why I recommend secret greetings. In the secret greetings, the place where the characters come out is largely determined. However, we don’t know the characters that come out. I’m so happy when my favorite character comes out!

【Places where you can meet the characters at private greetings】

  • Around the Wisdom Tree
  • Entertainment Hall
  • Fuwafuwa (Fluffy) Kids Land
  • Rainbow Hall
  • Near the entrance
  • Near the stairs leading to the fourth floor

It’s possible that you’ll meet the characters in quite a few places. However, since there is no set time for the characters to appear, it is possible to meet them by chance while moving.

If you want to go for a secret greeting, here are some recommendations

  • Around the Wisdom Tree just after the opening of Puroland
  • After the opening of Fluffy Kids Land
  • Character break time during the open greeting at Rainbow Hall
  • After the show at the Wisdom Tree Stage and after the Miracle Gift Parade

★Around the Wisdom Tree just after the opening of Puroland

There are definitely characters around the Wisdom Tree right after it opens. However, the greeting closes very quickly. It will probably be shut down in less than 10 minutes.

If you want to go for the secret greeting around Wisdom Tree just after the opening of Puroland, I recommend you to purchase the “Puroland Admission Priority PASS”. That way, you’re sure to get a picture with one character. Hopefully, you’ll get a picture with the two characters.

★After the opening of Fuwafuwa (Fluffy) Kids Land

Fuwafuwa (Fluffy) Kids Land is a kids’ area for children up to elementary school age. It is in the back of the Entertainment Hall. A few times there, the characters come to play. It’s more relaxed than other secret greetings, and you may be able to talk to the characters a little longer.

★Character break time during the open greeting at Rainbow Hall

Rainbow Hall is an open greeting spot that takes place near the stairs to the left of the entrance. The open greeting times vary from day to day, but when it’s an hour or so, the characters may go to juice time or dress-up time.

When the juice time or dress-up time is over and a character comes out, another character may come out from behind.

If another character comes along, you’ll be lucky. Let’s get in line before it closes.

★After the show at the Wisdom Tree Stage and after the Miracle Gift Parade

Various shows are held on the Wisdom Tree stage. Sometimes the characters will come to play after the show is over.

The characters may also come to play after the Miracle Gift Parade. These days, however, another show often comes in about 30 minutes after the Miracle Gift Parade, so characters are less likely to come out.

Depending on the upcoming show schedule, you may be able to meet the characters after the Miracle Gift Parade.

Top 5 shows I recommend for people with children

There are many shows and events at Puroland, and as of March 2020, here are some of the shows that are going on

<The Wisdom Tree Stage>

  • Happy Happy Birthday Show
  • ~Hugs from everyone~ caharacter hug time
  • The Great March of Rilu Rilu Fairilu ~Welcome to Little Fairilu~
  • Miracle Gift Parade
  • Chance for you by Wish Me Mell

<Marchen Theatre>

  • KAWAII KABUKI – Momotaro by the Hello Kitty Troupe –

<Fairyland Theatre>

  • MEMORY BOYS -The Shop Selling Memories –
  • KITTY & MIMMY’s ANNIVERSARY TIME

<Discovery Theater>

  • Gudetama the Movie Show

In addition to these, there will be some event-only shows. As you can see, there are so many shows that it’s hard to see them all in one day. So, I chose a show that children can enjoy and adults can also be satisfied with.

1.Miracle Gift Parade

The Miracle Gift Parade, which circles around the Wisdom Tree, is a must-see if you come to Puroland. Many characters such as Kitty and Daniel come to play with us.

The storyline of this parade has a high message and there are more adults than children who are hooked. Let’s recap a little of the story here.

Kitty and Daniel start an anniversary party with many friends from the Ichigo Kingdom. Just as you’re having a fun party, you suddenly hear a thunderous sound, and it’s the Queen of Darkness of the Triplets and her minions. They go on a rampage to take the light from the Wisdom Tree. I wonder what will happen after this…

During the celebration party in the first half of the show, the venue is bright and cheerful and the atmosphere is filled with fun, so the children can watch it without worry. However, around the time the Queen of Darkness comes out, the sound of thunder is heard and the place becomes dark and scary. Children who are not good in the dark may cry.

It may be important to make sure your child doesn’t cry beforehand. You can see the Miracle Gift Parade on Youtube “HELLO KITTY/Hello Kitty [Sanrio official]”. I hope you’ll give it a watch.

To enjoy the Miracle Gift Parade, the “Miracle ♡ Light” and the “Miracle Strawberry Light” are on sale. Of course you can enjoy the show without it. However, if people around you have it, your child will want it.

About “Miracle ♡ Light” and the “Miracle Strawberry Light”

My recommendation is “Miracle ♡ light”. It is often used at shows other than “Miracle Gift Parade”, so I think it’s a good idea to have one.

2. Happy Happy Birthday Show

It’s a birthday show where you celebrate birthday with the characters.I highly recommend this show for your birthday child. Non-Birthday children are welcome to attend. Let’s have a fun birthday celebration with the characters and Princess Pipper!

The Happy Happy Birthday Show is held at the Wisdom Tree Stage. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the show. However, be sure to take the photo at your eye level.

I think the best place to see it is in the front. However, it’s a popular place, so the front row at the front quickly fills up. The front row on the right and left is often empty, so the right and left may be a good place.

At the end of that show there is a whole photo time, and Princess Piper and the characters will move around to the right, front and left. So, I think it will be fine no matter where you sit.

Left side of the stage Front of the stage Right side of the stage

This is how they take photos with each of the characters.

For more information on the characters that will be performing, please see the Puroland official website “Happy Happy Birthday Show”.

3.~Hugs from everyone~ Caharacter Hug Time

Next, we recommend “Character Hug Time”, where you can enjoy hugging the characters. You can hug the characters whose birthdays are coming up or who are being noticed at the time.

If you congratulate a character whose birthday is coming up, they’ll be happy to hear it! If there are few people in line, you may be able to have a conversation with a character many times.

No photos may be taken while standing in line as it will impede the progress. It’s OK to take a photo or video of you interacting with the characters.

For the characters that will perform, please see the Puroland official website “Character Hug Time”.

4.The Great March of Rilu Rilu Fairilu ~Welcome to Little Fairilu~

It’s a show where you dance and circle around the Tree of Wisdom with Rilu Rilu Fairilu, which became an anime in 2015. Lip, Sumire, Himawari, Rose, Butler Fairilu, and Maid Fairilu will be appearing.

To participate in that show, wear a Fairilu Wing.

Also, if you participate with the “Miracle ♡ Light”, the color of the light will change in conjunction with the show, making it even more fun.

5.KITTY & MIMMY’s ANNIVERSARY TIME

It’s the ANNIVERSARY TIME that I mentioned in “Top 5 things I recommend for people with children” section. Please see there for more information.

Top 3 attractions or restaurants I recommend for people with children

There are six experiential attractions, three theater attractions, three restaurants and one café at Puloland. Although it is indoors, there are many attractions and restaurants. So, let’s decide where to go in advance.

1.Fuwafuwa (Fluffy) Kids Land

Fwafuwa (Fluffy) Kids Land is an attraction for children from 1 year old to elementary school age. There, you can jump through the airy house and slide down a big slide. There is also a little kids’ area where even crawling children can play.

It’s the one place in Puroland that takes the most physical effort out of the children. My plan is to let my daughter play until she’s exhausted and then sleep in the stroller on the way home.

At Fluffy Kids Land, mom and dad can also relax. It’s a spot for children and their parents only, so if a child cries loudly, it’s mutual. This is a must-go resting spot for those with children.

The most recommended event here is the secret greeting! As I mentioned in the “Top 5 things to do with your children” section, it significantly increases your chances of attending a secret greeting.

Also, there is no hustle and bustle because all the people there are with children. So you can talk with the characters in a relaxed manner, so if you haven’t seen them, please visit them.

2.Restaurant Yakata

The Restaurant Yakata is a buffet-style restaurant where you can meet the characters. It’s all you can eat and drink. The characters will be dressed in their original restaurant costumes to welcome you to the restaurant.

The characters appearing are Hello Kitty, Daniel, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, My Melody and Wish Me Mell. You can’t take a group photo with the characters, but you are welcome to talk and hug them. You can also take photos and videos of it. Take lots of pictures of your child and the characters interacting with each other!

It’s unlikely you’ll meet all the characters just by going to that restaurant once. I have been to that restaurant many times but have yet to meet little Wish Me Mel. I think I’ll continue to go there to meet all the characters.

The menu is a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. There is no special children’s menu. Fried chicken, potatoes, hamburgers, and other things that children seem to like are provided. There is also a spot where you can make your own ramen, so be sure to try it out.

There is also a curry available that children will love. However, be especially careful with children who don’t like spicy food because the spices are a bit harsh.

【Restaurant Yakata】

  • Dining Prices (tax included): Adults/2900 yen; Elementary school students/1500 yen; Small children (age 3 through pre-elementary school)/1100 yen
  • Dining Time: 70 minutes
  • Menu: Buffet-style
  • Pre-Opening Numbered Tickets: Numbered tickets can be issued 30 minutes before the restaurant opens on Weekdays and 1 hour before it opens on Weekends and holidays.

I wrote about getting a numbered ticket before the opening of the restaurant in the “Top 5 things I recommend for people with children” section, so please refer to that section for more information about numbered tickets.

3.Lady Kitty House

The Lady Kitty House is a place where you can experience the world of “Kawaii (Cute) x Celebrity”. “Lady Kitty” is the original kitty that was designed for this attraction.

The Lady Kitty House has a rose garden, a dress tower, and a bedroom surrounded by sweets that is every girl’s dream room. It also expresses the “spirit of hospitality” that a celebrity can provide. It’s a great place to take pictures.

There, you can have your photo taken with Kitty at the end of the house! There’s always a Kitty here, so you’ll definitely see her. The photo shoot can be taken with a Puroland’s camera and you can buy the picture and its data.

You can also take pictures with your own camera. You can take pictures of your child interacting with Kitty. However, if you want a frontal photo, have it taken with a Puroland’s camera and buy it.

Points to keep in mind about your belongings

When you go out with your children, you may have a lot of luggage. I always have a lot of luggage, which I prepare while thinking about various situations. Since it’s the first time you’re going there, you want to keep your luggage to a minimum if possible. Try to organize what you need in Puroland so you don’t have too much luggage.

  • Please leave your stroller at the Information Center on the 3rd floor and bring a baby strap.
  • Put all the stuff you need in your backpack.
  • It’s a good idea to have some tools to pass the time and some sweets and juice.
  • When watching the parade, it is recommended to have a leisure seat or a folding cushion to sit on the floor.

Baby strollers are not allowed in Puroland on Saturdays and Sundays, and you can leave them at the Information Center on the 3rd floor. Strollers are allowed on weekdays, but there are many stairs and steps in the building, so I recommend leaving strollers even on weekdays.

In addition, if you need a baby strap, you can borrow one free of charge at the information center on the 3rd floor, but if you can, it’s a good idea to bring a baby strap that you are used to using.

I recommend a backpack rather than a tote bag for your luggage! I keep my daughter’s diapers, change of clothes, meal set, and other necessities in my backpack. I keep my valuables in a small shoulder bag. With both hands, I hold my daughter’s hand, take a picture of her, hold her still. Also, it’s easier to hug the characters when both hands are free./p>

Children don’t like to wait for the parade to start or for the attractions they want to go on, even if it’s only for a little while. It’s useful to have something to pass the time at such times. I show my child pictures and YouTube videos on my smartphone and have them wait. They will also wait with sweets and juice. Many places in Puroland sell sweets, but children often feel more comfortable eating sweets that they are used to eating, so I think it’s a good idea to bring your own if possible.

In all the shows around the Wisdom Tree, such as the parade, you have to sit on the floor. That’s why it’s a good idea to bring a leisure seat or a folding cushion with you.

Points to keep in mind when taking children to Puroland

As mentioned in the section above, taking a lot of luggage can be tiring, so take only what you need. In this section, I’d like to organize the points to keep in mind other than luggage.

  • Watch the parades where it’s easy to leave
  • Both adults and children should wear shoes they are used to walking in
  • Keep an eye on your child to make sure he or she doesn’t wander off

It’s fun to watch parades from the front row, but it’s embarrassing if your child suddenly cries, isn’t it? When my daughter was one and a half years old, there was a time when she saw the Miracle Gift Parade at the front using the PUROPASS, and she cried because of the power of the parade. I couldn’t enjoy the parade because I was doing my best to soothe her….. For this reason, if you’re seeing the parade for the first time, it’s a good idea to sit in the back or by the aisle. Also, there are a certain number of children who are crying, so it’s okay if you can’t stop crying in a hurry.

It is recommended that both adults and children wear sneakers or shoes that they are used to walking in. This is because it is wide and there are many steps in Puroland.

Also, it’s easy to get lost, especially when it’s crowded, so be careful. If your child gets lost, please go to the information center on the first floor.

Recommended model plan for Puroland with children

Finally, I have two model plans that I recommend for people with children. The estimated time required is from the opening of Puroland until around 15:00. Please note that I have created a plan that does not include events for a limited time.

1.Plan that focuses on the parades

①Line up at the opening greeting
②Get a numbered ticket for the Restaurant Yakata
③Happy Happy Birthday Show
④Hug Time
⑤Lunch at the Restaurant Yakata
⑥Miracle Gift Parade
⑦Fwafuwa (Fluffy) kids land
⑧Shopping at the entrance shop

This is a plan that encompasses a parade that children will enjoy. You might want to take part in a secret greeting in between parades!

2.Plan that focuses on the attractions

①Line up at the opening greeting
②Get a numbered ticket for the Restaurant Yakata
③Mymeroad Drive
④Lady kitty house
⑤Lunch at the Restaurant Yakata
⑥Miracle Gift Parade
⑦Fwafuwa (Fluffy) kids land
⑧Shopping at the entrance shop

This is a plan that focuses on the attractions where you can take pictures. There are only a few experiential attractions, so you can get around in one day if you try hard enough. However, I think it can get busy when you have children with you. So I made a plan that you could afford. A detailed model plan with additional considerations will be described in a separate article.

Conclusion

  • There is a diaper changing area in the baby center, so you can enjoy with your baby without worry.
  • Let’s spend a wonderful day with “Birthday card/Anniversary card”.
  • Let’s enjoy the Miracle Gift Parade with the “Miracle ♡ Light”.
  • Keep your luggage to a minimum and wear clothes that are easy to move around in!

All of Purolnd is indoors. I think it’s easy to plan because you can enjoy it without worrying about the weather. Both adults and children are exhausted if they try to have fun with this and that. So, I recommend that you leave it there just enough to think about going here next time you come back. Also, at Taito Station (game center) near Puroland, you can play a crane game for free if you show the ticket stub of Puroland. I hope you’ll take advantage of it!
